Chennai: IT products and services company Bahwan CyberTek has been successfully appraised at level five of the Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMi) Version 1.1, its president S V Sriram, said.
The CMMi assessment was performed by KPMG, an SEI-authorized independent lead assessor. CMMi Level 5 is the highest standard available to assess the maturity of an organisation's software engineering processes.
"At Bahwan CyberTek, we strongly pursue organisational excellence. This certification is an endorsement of the organisation's collective resolve to ensure process excellence, which will enable us to extend best-in-class services to customers," he said.
The appraisal was done under the SCAMPI version 1.1 appraisal method specified by Carnegie Mellon University's Software Engineering Institute. SCAMPI incorporates the best ideas of several process-improvement appraisal methods.
"The certification has become an imperative in the market today. The certification will help us significantly improve productivity and optimise cost besides increasing throughput. Further, the certification will help us ensure higher customer satisfaction," Sriram said.
With the industry increasingly becoming quality conscious, CMMi Level 5 certification is an apparent differentiation and will provide organisations exposure to more business opportunities, the release said.
Chennai-based Bahwan CyberTek has branches in Oman, UAE and USA, employing about 500 people. The offshore development centre in Chennai employs about 250 people.
