Bahwan Cybertek in talks with Oracle

Software solutions and services company Bahwan CyberTek is in advanced talks with global major Oracle for co-promotion of its products. Bahwan, which is a dominant player in the Middle East has also announced its entry into the Indian marketplace on Thursday with three new products.
According to S Durgaprasad director & CEO, Bahwan CyberTek, “Oracle is a co-promoter of our range in the Middle East and we are hopeful of extending the relationship to the Indian marketplace also”.

He further added that the company, which has a Centre of excellence in Chennai, would shore up its operations in India. It has already identified a new location at Taraipakkan wherein a new facility would come up. Bahwan would also look at ramping up its workforce over next two years. “Currently we have a employee base of around 200 in Chennai. We are hopeful of scaling it up to 500 over the next two-three years. As far as recruitment is concerned we would look at qualified system architects. Going forward once we achieve economics of scale in Chennai, we look up a new facility in Banaglore also”, said Durgaprasad. Incidentally the company set up its development Centre in Chennai in 1999 and currently all products and services happen out of there, he added.

The company, which is part of the billion-dollor Suhil Bahwan Group of Oman, is also foreseeing an increase in its revenue from the Indian marketplace. “Currently we have a turn over of Rs25 crore and we are confident that it would go up to Rs40 crore by 2004 and Rs 100 crore by 2005-06,” he said.
